Richardschi Kala Mimansa : (Richard’s Art Criticism -1963) :-

In this book Prof. Kurundkar has started with brief philosophical and linguistic background and developed detailed exposition of the Theory of Aesthetics by Dr. I. A. Richard’s , an internationally recognized authority on these subjects. Prof. Kurundkar, then critically examines the said theory and evaluates it.  This book has its own significance as Dr Richards has been a subject of study since 1930, his theories were not dealt with in Marathi in details and adequate background. Till date this is the only authoritative examination of Dr. Richards theory in Marathi.

Roopvedh  (The Quest for Form – 1964) :-

This is collection of various articles of Prof. Kurundkar on literary criticism and aesthetics. This book dealt with topics related to Aesthetics, Literary theory, and literary criticism. This includes critical examination on Mr B S Mardhekar’s critical writings. Also, includes an unique article on Ras, which is the first historical analysis of “Bharata’s Ras” theory. This book was recognized as best piece of literature for the year 1964 and was awarded the Maharshtra State prize of Best literary work in Marathi .

Magova: (Pursuit – 1967) :-

In this collection of essays in literary art with historical context, Prof.  Kurundkar has included few articles related to Maratha history, history of philosophy and  history of Indian materialism along with other. One article traces the history of Indian music from Bharatmuni to medieval ages and examines the claim that  modern classical Indian music is fundamentally different than traditional one. In another article Prof. Kurundkar has examined Kalidasa’s Shakuntala. Tracing back he has tried to explore the historical truths in the legend from Mahabharata on one hand and poetical elevation of the legend by Kalidas. This anthology of essays cover  Indian classical music, The character of Shakuntala as emerging from history and literature, Bendre’s Sanbhaji, An outline of folk literature, A tribute to Shejwalkar’s genius and Loayat – critical perspective of Shankya philosophy.

 Jagar ( Waking – 1969) :-

This books distinguishes Prof. Kurundkar from other Marathi writers. With is stature of democratic socialist and a staunch nationalist supported with his contribution to freedom struggle, his political analysis on one hand is sympathetic and respectful of pioneers of independent movement, but at the same time critically evaluates their work. This book emphasizes on political behavior and interpretation of the problem. The  topics covered in this book are “Frustration among the intellectuals”, “Restructuring the school courses in Indian Histrory with special reference to national integration”, “Regression of Socialistic forces”, “Marxism: Theory and Practice”. “Decentralization”, Mahatma Gandhi”, “Nehru: The harbinger of piece” “Secularism and Islam”, scriptures and their followers” etc.  With this book Prof. Kurundkar was widely accepted as political thinker particularly on Islam and Secularism.

Shivaratra  (The Sacred Night of  Wakefulness- 1970) :-

This is another landmark book of political essays dealing with important issue of communalism and secularism. This book has been awarded by Maharashtra Government as Best Book of the year in thought provoking literature: 1972.He dwells herein on topics  such as “Golwar Guruji and Gandhiji”, “Gandhiji’s Murder and Hindi Masabhaits’ ideology”. Communilism in Mulim Politics in India”, “Secular Ideals and the political leadership of Khan Abdul Gaffarkhan and Maulana Azad” etc.


Dhar Ani Kath (The Main stream and Banks – 1971) :-
This books deals with critical examination of Marathi Novel. This is accepted as epok making book by Marathi critics. This book takes review of currents and mile stones in Marathi novel published first from 1841 upto 1971.  This book evaluates the development of Marathi novel, tracing growth and development. This brings out both rich and varied aspects and limitations of Marathi novel.
